George Weston: Making Music

“I set out to collaborate with a diverse array of people to help encourage and recreate a sense of community and togetherness, even when physically alone. I noticed during my research (be it in my mind-maps, personal experience playing instruments, or my first zoom calls or encounters with willing participants) that music can act as an overriding medium to not only bring people together, but also express oneself in a therapeutic way. It can be easily shared, can essentially have infinite participants, and can be produced virtually, therefore adheres to current safety guidelines. For this reason, I made the decision to make a song with my local neighbours.”
